Summer Madness
The air is for swimming in.
The sea is for Mike and me.
The hotels are lit up for lovers, majestic old custodians of
long-ago passions, but still ready for lust in 1987.
The moon is for that couple over there.
I wonder if their hearts are breaking as they say 'Goodbye'?
The roses must be for homesick aliens
who remember islands warm and beautiful.
And 'The Sally' Ferry is for all to see
Here she comes making another grand entrance into port,
her dress covered with twinkling stars and
her heart full to the brim with romance, adventure, wine, cheese
Frogs' legs and Frenchmen.......
"Sandra, Sandra - You never listen to me"
I said, "Let's go home and have a nice cup to tea"
"Oh yes Mum, I would love a green chartreuse in a quite
corner with a frog"
I sometimes wonder if we breathe the same air.
